Meet Southeast Guitar Repair Academy student Dirk Gibson. In this student spotlight, Dirk shares why he pursued professional guitar repair training, the concerns he had before enrolling, and what he has accomplished since completing his training.

What were you doing professionally before enrolling?

Real estate.

What made you decide to enroll in guitar repair training?

I decided to go professional doing what I love and build a business.

What concerns or fears did you have before getting started?

Is the school going to deliver? How do I get clients? How do I get paid?

What almost stopped you from enrolling?

The possibility of receiving no return on my investment.

What was your biggest breakthrough during the course?

Confidence in executing repairs.

Have you earned money from guitar repair work since enrolling?

Yes.

Tell us about the repair work you have completed since enrolling.

In two and a half years, we have repaired more than 500 stringed instruments, hired a part-time technician, and we are growing.

Have you started a guitar repair business?

Yes.

How has learning guitar repair changed your life?

There is joy in my work.

What would you say to someone who is considering enrolling but feels uncertain?

Pray about it. If it is the right move for you, SEGRA is the school to trust.

Would you recommend Southeast Guitar Repair Academy to others? Why?

Barrett explains things well. It is at your own pace, and if you take it seriously, you will learn. It is worth the investment.
