Kasey Adam Fabrizio completed the Master's Course at Southeast Guitar Repair Academy.

Before enrolling, Kasey worked as a structural welder and fabricator. After nearly three decades of playing guitar and modifying his own instruments, he decided to pursue guitar repair training to turn his passion into something more.

Why Kasey Enrolled

Kasey had been playing and modifying guitars for 29 years before enrolling at SEGRA.

When asked what motivated him to begin formal guitar repair training, he shared:

"I have been playing and modifying my own guitars for 29 years. It is a passion. I wanted to set myself up to do something I love for a business that can help other people to love it as well. The best way to do that is for me to enroll in a school."

Concerns Before Getting Started

Before starting the program, Kasey questioned whether he would be able to learn the material quickly.

"That I wasn't going to catch on to it quickly."

He credits the instruction for helping him overcome that concern.

"Barrett made that the easy part."

What Almost Stopped Him

Like many prospective students, Kasey wondered whether the investment would be worthwhile.

"That it may be a waste of time and money for me."

His Biggest Breakthrough

As he progressed through the course, Kasey discovered that he already had a solid foundation from years of working on his own guitars.

His biggest realization was:

"The fact that I already knew quite a bit of the information. I just needed the fine details."

Building Toward the Future

Kasey reports that he has not yet earned money from guitar repair work and has not yet started a guitar repair business.

Even so, he says the training has already had a meaningful impact on his life.

How Guitar Repair Changed His Life

One of the biggest changes Kasey noticed wasn't just technical. It was personal.

"It has made me a much more patient person."

Coming from fast-paced trades, guitar repair taught him to approach work differently.

"I have always worked in extremely fast paced trades. Whether it was Ironworking or the many trades I have worked, it has been attack mode. Guitar repair has made me slow down and think through the process."

He says that mindset has carried over into other areas of life.

"I have started to apply that to my everyday life."

Advice for Future Students

For anyone thinking about enrolling but feeling uncertain, Kasey offers simple advice:

"The hardest part is getting started. You are the only person that is standing in your way."
